Interest in event soars as Team TMF charity entries also reach capacity

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – The 2026 Santa Monica Classic, produced by The McCourt Foundation (TMF), has once again officially sold out all general and charity entries for its 10K and 5K distances for the race taking place on Sept. 13.  With demand for general entries increasing 20% year-over-year, the event reached sell-out status for traditional registration faster than ever, with more than a month remaining until race day. Shortly thereafter, entries through Team TMF, The McCourt Foundation’s official charity team, also sold out for both distances. With the event at full capacity, anticipation for the upcoming race is building and interest remains high for opportunities to take part in future editions.

“As running’s popularity soars, we’re proud to see our races reaching capacity sooner than ever. It’s a signal to us that participants trust us to give them an incredible experience on race day and that they are eager to secure their spot," said Andy Reilly, director of marketing for the McCourt Foundation. “With these record-breaking sell-outs, we are also seeing record-breaking fundraising numbers along the way, helping us work towards our mission to find cures for neurological diseases and empower individual communities to build a healthier world.”

The Santa Monica Classic is one of four annual running events produced by The McCourt Foundation, a Los Angeles and Boston-based nonprofit. The organization’s mission is to build a healthier world by funding research and programs to advance neurological health, foster community wellness and make a lasting impact. Since its inception, TMF has donated more than $7.2 million to neurology research and generated more than $81 million for other nonprofits through its charity partnership program.

The Santa Monica Classic is the ideal end-of-summer race and starting point for those looking to begin their running journey. 33% of Santa Monica Classic participants also take part in the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon, with many also running in The McCourt Foundation’s Rose Bowl Half Marathon.

The Santa Monica Classic will also feature a Kids Run, making it an event fit for the whole family. The Santa Monica Classic Kids Run will take kids ages three to eight on a ½ km route. This Kids Run is a part of the Kids Run LA Challenge, which also includes the Rose Bowl Kids Run and LA Kids Run. Kids who complete all three fun runs will be awarded a Kids Run LA Challenge medal to celebrate their accomplishments.
