3000 Party People Participate In St. Paddy's Day Dash Down Greenville 5K

Craig Lautenslager, Mimi Smith find gold at the end of the race course during 28th annual running event

DALLAS – The St. Patrick’s Day festivities kicked off on Saturday at the St. Paddy's Day Dash Down Greenville 5K. The race celebrate its 28th year with an updated course that took runners and walkers down the parade route for the very first time. 3000 participants showed up to start the party with the Run Project race series.

Top finishers took home cash prizes furnished by race partner Guaranty Bank & Trust for their speedy performances. Craig Lautenslager took first place in the men’s division with a time of 14:48. Connor Weaver and Austin Del Rosso took second and third place with times of 14:58 and 14:59 respectively. In the women’s field, Mimi Smith was victorious with a time of 16:48. She was followed by Taylor Dare in second with a time of 16:57 and Gabriela Deleon in third with a time of 17:20.

Participants of all paces also had a chance to compete off the course during the annual St. Paddy's Day Spirit Tutu Contest and a donut eating contest. Runners enjoyed food, drinks and a Yuengling Flight Beer Garden during post-race party followed at Energy Square.

All Run Project series events feature a charitable partner, and St. Paddy's Day Dash Down Greenville 5K supports Friends of the Katy Trail. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates and maintains the Katy Trail raises funds for landscaping, lighting, water for people and pets, daily security patrols, amenities such as benches on the Trail, and more.

The next event in the Run Project series is the Skyline Half Marathon, 10K and 5K on Apr. 22. Registration is now open. The series’ nine unique events attract thousands of runners from across the metroplex, the state, and the nation, and raise tens of thousands of dollars for local charities.
